A free daily Korean word puzzle for learners worldwide
Hanguldle is a Wordle-inspired puzzle game where you guess a Korean word by typing individual Hangul keystrokes. Unlike traditional Wordle, each Korean character is broken down into its component consonants and vowels based on the standard Korean keyboard layout (Dubeolsik), making it an engaging way to learn how Korean writing works.
Every day at midnight KST (Korean Standard Time), a new puzzle is released. All words are carefully selected from TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) beginner and intermediate vocabulary, ensuring the game is both educational and accessible to Korean learners at all levels.
Korean characters (syllable blocks) are composed of consonants and vowels called jamo (μλͺ¨). Hanguldle breaks each character into the keystrokes you would type on a Korean keyboard:
Example: ν (han) is typed as 3 keystrokes:
Example: κ³Ό (gwa) has a compound vowel, so 3 keystrokes:
After each guess, every cell is colored to show how close you are:
Choose from three difficulty levels. All levels give you 6 attempts:
| Level | Word Length | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 1 character (2-5 cells) | κ° (river) |
| Normal | 2 characters (4-10 cells) | μ¬κ³Ό (apple) |
| Hard | 3 characters (6-15 cells) | λμκ΄ (library) |
All words in Hanguldle are nouns from TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean), the standardized Korean language proficiency test recognized worldwide. The vocabulary spans beginner (TOPIK I) and intermediate (TOPIK II) levels, making this game a practical study tool for anyone preparing for the exam or building their Korean vocabulary.
By playing daily, you naturally encounter and remember common Korean words β from everyday objects to abstract concepts β in a fun, low-pressure format.
